June 29th - July 2nd: First Tournament Steps Camp
Campers playing in their first USCF-rated tournament receive a special trophy! All skill levels are encouraged to attend.
July 6th - July 10th: Opening Explorer Camp
Learn how to play the beginning of your chess game flawlessly! Stop pushing your pawns randomly and learn to take control of the opening phase at this camp.
July 13th - July 17th: Queens Camp
Learn from Rose City Chess female coaches how to best play with the Queen! Queen sacrifices, traps, and the Queen’s Gambit will all be covered in this camp. Girls who attend receive a special prize!
July 20th - July 24th: Blunder Buster Camp
Blundering in your games? This camp will focus on techniques to avoid making those crucial errors that lead to losses. Learn how to avoid hanging pieces, missing checkmate for your opponent, and regretting your last move!
July 27th - July 31st: Endgame Experts Camp
What do I do when all the pieces are traded? Our Endgame Experts camp has all the answers, including the secret strategies to winning your endgames: using passed pawns!

Camp Awards for Every Student
Our training camps are fun, focused, and completely immersive. Each day includes dedicated time for structured lessons, puzzles, studies, game analysis, and USCF rated games. We include breaks for less strenuous (and more silly) activities. Past examples include:

Badminton
Chess Cornhole
Piece Stacking Contest
Chess Relay Race
Chalk Art
Blindfold Chess
Chess Variants (Bughouse, Hyper-Lucky Chess)
Beat the Coach Simul
Puzzle Gauntlet
Don’t know how to play chess? We will teach you.
Stuck at a certain rating class? We will show you how to become stronger.
All camps are 100% in-person. Students will be grouped according to playing strength. Students receive puzzles and training materials suitable for their level.
Ages: 2nd-8th grade (Exceptions can be made for 1st graders with chess experience - email admin@rosecitychess.com to discuss)
Cost: $249 for four-day camps, $299 for five-day camps
Sample Schedule (Activities may differ)
12:30pm - Arrival, Open Play
12:45pm - Lesson #1
1:00pm - Tournament Round 1 (Game analysis and puzzle challenges when game ends each round!)
2:00pm - Tournament Round 2
3:00pm - Tournament Round 3
4:00pm - Lesson #2
4:15pm - Open Play, Pick up

Are the same topics covered every camp?
We introduce 100% new puzzles and positions each week of the camp. We have a curriculum with over 14,000 positions, sorted by playing strength and theme.
Are food and beverage provided?
Lunches and snacks are not provided, so please send your own. We do often have a special treat though in the afternoon.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellation requests must be sent via email to robert@rosecitychess.com.
Cancellation at least 14 days before event begins: 100% of fees refundable or transferable to a different event.
Cancellation at least 7 days before event begins: 50% of fees refundable or transferable to a different event.
Cancellation less than 7 days before event begins: Non-refundable.
All refunds subject to a 3% processing fee.
